First Time Homebuyers

Buying your first home is a big moment. It’s exciting—but let’s be honest, it can also be a bit overwhelming. You're suddenly expected to understand contracts, timelines, inspections, mortgage paperwork, and a million unfamiliar terms. That’s where we come in.

At the Law Office of Emily Zelenovic, we take a hands-on, supportive approach to helping first-time buyers. You don’t need to know everything—we’ll guide you through the process, explain each step, and make sure your legal interests are fully protected along the way.

What Makes Our Approach Unique for First-Time Buyers?

💬 We Explain Everything in Plain English: No legal jargon, no assumptions. We’ll break down contracts and documents in a way that’s easy to understand, so you can feel confident in every decision you make.

📋 We Offer a Roadmap: From the moment your offer is accepted to the day you get your keys, we’ll walk you through what to expect. We'll help you stay organized and avoid surprises.

📞 You Can Reach Us—Really: Unlike many firms, we give you our personal contact info so you can reach us quickly with questions or concerns. Whether it’s a quick clarification or a big issue, we’re here.

🤝 We Partner With Your Team: We work closely with your agent, lender, and other professionals to make sure everything stays on track. You won’t need to manage the chaos alone.

First-Time Buyer FAQs

Q: Do I need an attorney if I have a real estate agent?
A: Yes. Your agent is there to help you find a home and negotiate the offer, but only an attorney can review and revise legal documents and protect you from liability.

Q: When should I hire a real estate attorney?
A: As soon as your offer is accepted—or even before, if you want help drafting it. The earlier we’re involved, the better we can protect your interests and flag potential issues before they become problems.

Q: What should I watch out for in the Purchase and Sale Agreement?

A: That’s where we come in. We'll review it line-by-line and flag anything you should know or consider changing.

Q: What happens if the inspection reveals a problem?
A: We’ll work with your agent to negotiate credits, repairs, or even withdrawal from the deal if needed.

Q: What happens if something delays the closing?
A: Delays can happen, and we’re prepared for that. We’ll negotiate extensions if needed and work with all parties to keep the deal moving forward while protecting your rights.

Q: Can I back out of a deal if something goes wrong?
A: It depends on the timing and terms in your contract. We’ll make sure your agreements include appropriate contingencies and advise you on your options at every stage.
